EDI Mapping

What Document Mapping Means in EDI Implementations

Wednesday, June 17, 4:00 – 4:20 PM EDT

“Mapping” has a specific meaning with respect to EDI. The term refers generally to the process connecting fields in electronic trading partner documents to the corresponding values in the supplier’s ERP system. Sounds simple, but there are a raft of details that must be executed perfectly for trading relationship implementations to be successful. Mapping isn’t the only task in connecting trading partners—communications, testing, and “go-live” are critical too. Those important topics will be covered in separate sessions.

In this session you will learn:
  • What EDI Mapping Is All About

  • Why Details are Customer-Specific

  • How Requirements Vary According to ERP

  • Why “One-Size-Fits-All” Maps Have Limitations

  • Mapping and Unit Conversions

  • Which Alternatives to Recommend

We’ll cover this topic in useful detail in just 15 minutes. The session will remain open for five more minutes in case you have immediate questions. No need to take notes – you’ll receive a copy of the material afterwards by email.
